K.K. Nakazato
Corporate Headquarters Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo's intimate, canal patterned waterfront area, K.K. Nakazato created this development in conjunction with the city's plan to improve public access to this historic waterfront. The building is reminiscent of an unfurled ship's sail in a pattern called "Ho", Japanese for the word "sail". The building's curving glass facade, mast-like columns, and sloping roofline create the allusion to billowed sails.
