AUBURN, WASHINGTON, USA  The groundbreaking Parks Place residential treatment facility is dedicated to empowering individuals on their journey to recovery, enabling them to rebuild connections with their loved ones and reintegrate as active members of their communities. An Enhanced Services Facility (ESF) is a specialized residential setting that provides intensive and structured behavioral health services to individuals with complex mental health needs, offering a higher level of support and care than traditional residential facilities. This treatment approach places a strong emphasis on holistic well-being, promoting close collaboration with primary care and other healthcare partners.

The design vision for the Parks Place ESF was centered around the concept of connection to nature. The project team at kmd understood the vital role that the natural environment plays in enhancing the healing process, resulting in a design that seamlessly integrates the beauty of the Pacific Northwest's landscapes. From rainforests to coastlines, mountains to islands, each "neighborhood" within the facility draws inspiration from the diverse natural wonders of the region.
